Deputy's Star

By Loretta Cox

WITH A GOLDEN STAR UPON HIS CHEST
HE PROVES EVERYDAY HE’S ONE OF THE BEST
ONE OF THE NEW BREED OF DEPUTIES
THAT HAS PASSED ALL THE TESTS
AND THAT GOLDEN STAR SHINES TONIGHT
IN THE SILVERY MOONLIGHT

SOMEWHERE IN THE COUNTY TONIGHT
HE PATROLS IN HIS GREEN AND WHITE
SERVING THE PUBLIC
THE BEST HE CAN
PROVING TO ALL
HE’S A SPECIAL TYPE OF MAN
WITH A DEPUTY’S STAR UPON HIS CHEST
HE’S PROVING TO ALL
HE’S ONE OF THE COUNTY’S BEST
AND HIS DEPUTY’S STAR SHINES TONIGHT
IN THE SILVERY MOONLIGHT
HIS DEPUTY’S STAR SHINES TONIGHT IN THE SILVERY MOONLIGHT

HE CHOSE DANGER FOR A PROFESSION
AND HE KNOWS ALL TOO WELL
THAT HIS DEATH MAY BE LURKING
IN THE SHADOWS OR AT ANY TURN
ONE WRONG MOVE MEANS HE’S GONNA GET BURNED
YEAH, ONE WRONG MOVE HE’S GONNA GET BURNED
WITH HIS DEPUTY’S STAR UPON HIS CHEST
HE’S PROVING TO ALL
HE’S ONE OF LEE COUNTY’S BEST

HE WEARS HIS DEPUTY’S STAR
WITH HONOR AND PRIDE
‘CAUSE HE’S PROTECTING THE PUBLIC
THE BEST THAT HE CAN
PROVING TO ALL
HE’S A VERY SPECIAL TYPE OF MAN
YEAH, DEPUTY NICK BRYANT
IS A VERY SPECIAL TYPE OF MAN
.AND HIS GOLDEN STAR SHINES TONIGHT
IN THE SILVERY MOONLIGHT
