Edge

By Arthur Kayzakian

Why do we blush before death?
Do we sense a quiet curl?
Should I kneel on my shadow,
ask for guidance?

Why do we blench before light?
Does it crawl between cracks
of a slant? Should I assume
the unknown?

Why do we kiss before leaving?
Does it deem to breathe shadow?
Should I carry your absence,
a photo in my wallet?

It is always comforting
to cradle behind a secret
of what tortures you—

the absolute meaning
the all knowing resolution
the completeness of progression
there is no end, only questions.
