Friends And Companions
By Thompson Emate
Have you seen my friends?
Friends like brothers,
Roses among thorns,
Sunflowers amidst briers,
They’re like fireworks in
their colourful display,
They’re like shooting stars
trailing the night sky,
Few are like them,
Always willing to listen with empathy,
Always ready to go an extended mile,
Prop and support in difficult times,
Shoulders to lean on in adverse situations,
They’re only one call away,
Nightfall is never a bane,
When I am the labyrinth,
I am blessed to have them,
I am glad they found me,
Mine is not the aphorism,
“Lose yourself first,
then you’ll be found by friends”,
Stars are always there even
when the night seems to cloak them.
