Gender Roles

By Sea.M

I’ve seen the destruction
of what gender roles do,
I myself, had to learn that I had a voice too
Everything I do, is viewed through the lens
that I am a female.
I cannot make decisions for myself
because I am young, naive and simple.

As a teenager, I was my own emotional support,
Needs not met, I took matters
into my own hands.
A 22 year old woman I stand,
most likely wiser
than any old man,
and do I agree to the philosophy
that emotions make you weak?
No, I do not.
