Heavens Blessing

By Kirt Blackburn

The heaven shines upon your face.

Showing your faults, your misfits.

For this is what makes you as beautiful as you are.

Everyday is a struggle.

Fighting to hold your own.

Each breath you take is a blessing.

Each wink is worth a smile.

I sit here and watch you.

Watch you sleep, in your timeless crib.

The crib that holds the key to your survival.

The crib that shows all.

You make a movement.

You open your eyes.

Looking around for a brief moment.

Then fixing upon my face.

I look back at you and smile.

This face I look upon is a face of an angel.

Fallen from heaven, into my arms.

You are my special little angel.

The one that was meant to be.

I make my way to the court yard.

Look upon the misty sky.

A drop beats across my face, a rain drop.

I feel the rain drip through my fingers, hitting the ground.

The angels are crying.

They’ve lost one of their own.

A special little child.

My special little child.
