Inside An Onion

By Drora Matlofsky

Go inside an onion,
Deeper and deeper.
Cut through the many layers
And cry.
And cry.
When you reach the centre,
When there are no more layers,
You will be as deep as possible
In your pain.

Stay inside the onion for a few days.
Cry away your tears.
Let them make the onion soft and sweet,
Then come out,
Eyes and nose dripping,
Exhausted,
Ready to go on.
