Leafless Trees Of The Concrete Jungle

By Nikki Pruitt

In the concrete era of society
stand towering leafless trees of all varieties
bare and branch-less, coiled metal twine
electricity whirring, transformers whine
tethered together in a grid
atop hills, beside trees, in fields they sit
with their tall prestige, boasting power
providing 7 days a week 24 hours
