My Tumble Weed

By James Peranteau

Oh how the love of this earth
has filled mine heart with joy,
and how sad it is to know that,
my life will soon;all together end…and she asked;

“My dear friend, why so soon?”

“My precious flower, my tumble weed”,
I quickly did reply;“A hundred years, even two, would never
do,you see…
I have ‘lil Noah,
Butter Cups,and sundry rainbows
which I have never seen

Adding up my fingers and toes
was hard enough to do And now my precious flower, my tumble weed…I have you”
