Quakes

By Ruby Dreamer

When the earth quakes beneath me,
The shifting ground uproots me,
And devastation takes its place
In the cycle of change…

Just like the day I lost you.

Since your death I think of you
In each new quaking moment.
I feel you shift my heart and soul
To brace the change ahead.

Now with each storming landslide
My heart exhales in content.
Life sets into a new landscape,
And your spirit calms me.

I can trust you’ll never leave me.

I ride the rhythm of life,
Knowing now that nothing lasts.
But everything will be alright…
For now I know you’re quake-less.
