The Sweetest Tears

By Sailing To Windward

Oh to be your lasting rock,
to wrap you safe in tissue;
to turn back that heartless clock,
or set the quickening sand;
to wish I didn’t miss you,
to be there – to hold your hand.

These are hopes, and things I miss.

But more than this I wish
to sweep aside dark, dark fears
from here, for ever after,
with love, and those sweet, sweet tears
which fall from joy and laughter.
