Torture Of A Forbidden Love

By Andrew Degen

The beauty of an angel
is never what it seems
but is more
more than the eye can see
her heart is made of gold
untouchable by those who greed
yet still soft as a feather might be
her eyes go unnoticed
by those who know her best
but I know what they hold inside them
that little twinkle
like the diamond dust it is
gives a shine brighter than the sun itself
her heart is as pure
as a heart can possibly be
gods torment?
why do you torment me so?
with this foolishness
I see her beauty like no one else can
I would comfort her when the need be
though she doesn’t know
I’d take her hands
and hold them
and help through anything
anything at all
my heart longs to hear
what she might say
if I took her hands in mine
and we both ran away
