Untitled
By Noluthando Mkhungo
Sometimes,
Home is made of thorns and flames,
Barricades
disguised as love.
Sometimes home is piercing pains ,
Mistaken for smiles and encouragement.
Sometimes home is this inhabitable space you cannot break out of.
Sometimes home is charging horror colours at you
And cuddles your voice from screaming.
Sometimes home is a mother.
Sometimes home is rude.
Sometimes home is held together.
Sometimes home crumbles from the inside.
Sometimes home is dreadful.
Sometimes home is not there.
Sometimes home lacks meaning.
Sometimes home is a person.
Sometimes home is enraged.
Sometimes she is inherited bitterness.
Sometimes home is throwing you to the wolves.
Sometimes home teaches you to swim.
Sometimes home holds you close.
Sometimes home strips you naked.
Sometimes home fills you.
Sometimes home feeds you snake and stone.
Sometimes home is mistaken.
Sometimes home is weeping.
Sometimes home is a dilemma.
Sometimes home is stolen.
Sometimes home is a death place.
But whenever ,
Wherever you find home,
I hope you find yourself.
