Your Verbal Abuse
By Kara Vasquez
The way you work your magic amazes me
Abusing me in ways no one can see
While the tears role silently down my face
You stab left and right with such fluid grace.
Your words like venom as they rip from your lips
Attacking me, slicing me into the tiniest of strips
Left vulnerable and broken, you come at me harder
Taking everything I have, left nothing to barter.
I stood strong for years and now you think it’s okay
Because after a while the tears will go away
If I had the balls I would return the favor
The sweetest taste is revenge in which I would savor.
But I am unlike you, not demonic and cruel
I will be good to obey every heartbreaking rule
Just remember my words when the clock stops ticking
When my body gives out and my spirit stops kicking.
