Childhood Friends, One Year Older Poem
By James Watkin
Who but one summer ago
Ran, seeking dimmer a tree’s
Outer shade-rings
Now is playing hide and seek
With his feelings.
Longer, yet more appealing
Afternoons, in nabbing heart
Than bashful sleeve.
For what, shrieks and slaps, aside
Imprints kisses leave.
