Ear Ear, Listen Up!

Worked in a factory for many years,
no safety rules to protect my ears.
And now I’m growing kind of old,
I find often I’m left out in the cold.
Loud noises for any length of time
destroys your hearing; sounds sublime
you once enjoyed – bird song, wind chimes –
all are lost, you strain to hear at all times.

Don’t lose your hearing! It’s taken for granted,
but loud music in your ears implanted
damages irreversibly, and you’ll regret
when you strain to hear, yet cannot get
your mother’s voice, your friends’ quiet chat,
you’ll never hear very much of that!

So take care my friend of both your ears,
and you will hear those sounds, no fears!
