Lonely Hours
By Khayelihle Bongiswa Gamedze
An hour counts for me my love,
A lonely hour counts for me.
An hour to read the scripture and pray,
An hour to listen to the words God say.
An hour of retreat
An hour of a study and a repeat.
An hour of the television,
An hour to dance to the songs they play.
An hour to look at your paintings and cry,
Cry and curse myself to die.
An hour to reminisce silently and smile,
Smile while I drink coffee and sit on the couch.
An hour to count the stars and paint,
Paint poems in the galaxies and planets.
An hour to take a deep peaceful sleep,
And toss and turn and think of you…
Ten long hours my darling remind me of you…
But in the eleventh hour;
It’s good to know I’ll be with you.
