San Antonio Poem

By Nassy Fesharaki

I was born in a village
In the heart of mountains.

Not a single person
Saw me go to Texas
To obtain wing, fly.

Thanks to the Alamo,
San Anton, Laredo,
Saw US corruption,
Fell in love with angel.

I became like cistern,
Poured in me streams
Of many faiths, creeks.

From the here, there,
They came and united,
In my heart and brain…

Mainly thanks to Judy,
My ever first lover,
She taught, was teacher,
Not the base, classes!

Judy read many books,
Was master in writing,
To me and my mother,
Asking her for permit,
For us to get married.

Now, after many years,
See her rest, in the shade,
Shadows dance in my head
Of attending masses
Of Islam for slaves,
Learning of Alamo,
Mexica, Zapata,
Not finding Buffalo,
Thanks to the settlers
That crossed the oceans!
