A Black Boy Knows

By Raheem William Hill

A black boy born into this world knows not the troubles that lie ahead
He hopes and wishes for peace and pride
He not knows the troubles lie ahead
The gunshot wounds straight to his head
A black boy born of this world
Knows not the hatred that’s traditionally feed
He’ll pray and pray for such things to be dead
He not see he’s the struggling strong
The days of faith a change is gonna come
The black boy born into the world
Knows not his skins the richest of the land
People will wish and hope and pay
For such beauty of a man.
