Dark Days I Cannot Explain

By Jane Burns

Some days I feel like I’m going to die
But the truth is, I don’t really know why
This pain entwines my heart and mind
A conclusion I feel I cannot find

On a day like this I feel quite dark
My mind bleak looking for a spark
One minute I’m up, one minute I’m down
I’m either sat or ping ponging round

My head doesn’t rest it runs like a train
Looking for answers to calm the pain
Overwhelming emotion sat in the seat
Driving and questioning how I feel

I want to slow down, offload my thoughts
To ease my emotion and my heart
I’m desperate to return how I used to be
And wait for the sunrise to come over me
