Measles

By Jeong Ji-Yong

A December night silently withdraws
Around a primevally beautiful fire
That blooms in the coals.

No glow at the panes
And curtains drawn low,
Key set in the door,

A snowstorm buzzes and throbs
Like a swarm of bees;
And in a village, measles flourish
like rhododendrons.
