Ode To Sugar Flakes
By Barbara Vance
Sugar flakes, I adore you—you’re crunchy and sweet—
You make every morning I wake up complete.
The sweeter your flakes are, the less I resist;
And, once I start eating, I cannot desist.
There’s nothing quite like you—you’re one of a kind—
You’re sugar, contentment, and comfort combined.
You’re good when you’re dry, and you crunch with each bite;
And when you’re with milk, you are such a delight!
Some people like muffins or cherry crumb cake
Or pancakes stacked high in a syrupy lake,
But foods such as these make my stomach distressed—
Leave me sullen and hungry and highly depressed.
You won’t find me making those breakfast mistakes;
I intend to stay faithful to my sugar flakes.
Sugar flakes, you’re the greatest; you make my life whole;
You look swell in your box and superb in my bowl.
You give my life meaning and make each day new;
Sugar flakes, you’re stupendous—I truly love you.
