Old Age And Love
By Walterrean Salley
In their nineties they fell in love
Both infirmed, each with a cane,
With guardians and caregivers.
For their health did greatly wane.
Somehow they were allowed to marry;
Then, there they were needing a home.
But they were not the least bit wary.
Now that’s true love—without a qualm.
Both had land and both had money.
The courts were sought to steer their case.
While they attended newfound love,
Without a moment for to waste.
They understood… time laid far spent,
And whatever left was fragile and bent.
