The Hill We Climb

By Liliana EL.

Avoided this for such a long time
Writing down my feelings line by line

Avoiding thoughts and thinking for some time
Escaping to the dream realm while I have closed my eyes
Forget and fight
Remember and you are blind
Don’t you take flight
You are anchored here and here for some good time
Make it a good time
Wake up with a smile on your face
Make this world of ours a beautiful place
Greetings with a beautiful smile on your face

What a grim place
Full of darkness
We are sinking as we lose our faith
As we lose our faces
Losing are unique qualities
Our identities which set us apart

Grab onto what you can
Be thankful for what you have
Say there are others much more fortunate
I tell you you are better off than most

You fervently deny this
You won’t accept my guidance
You don’t accept my love

Child, why so frightened looking?
Is it the thunder and lightning from above?
You feel the destruction all around you
See the buildings toppling, crumbling down

You see our mountains flooded at the peaks
You feel our planet cracking thoroughly

All this pressure
All this pain
Can anyone, anything, tolerate?

I have been gone for a long time
But I have promised that I would be here to stay
That I would come back
And come back to stay

So here I am
Here I stand

Cannot make it up to you
But right now, what can I do?
Is anything of any use?
What can I do for you?

This world
Crumbling down
This world is disintegrating
Decomposing
Burning down

This world is not as we knew it
It’s become full of challenges
So complex
So contaminated

This world
Was so pure
So simple and complete

Yet, we mess with what we have
We are never gratified, no
We have lost all that we have ever had
To find ourselves with little good, perhaps all bad?

What was the point of that?
Why act so foolishly on emotional behalf?
So irrational
and dead

This generation
Can we be the generation?
To turn the tragedies around
To inspire beauty and soundness once again?
To restore tranquil serenity again?

We are the generation
We bring the restoration

We are the generation
I believe in our spiritual commotion

We have the power to change the world
We have the means of pursuing our dreams

We are the generation
We are the dreamers who will achieve

We are the hope and restoration
