Visiting Our Granddaughter In San Diego Poem

By Nhien Nguyen MD

Many days of waiting were over.
Few thousand miles away, we departed to visit our granddaughter.
Now, Annville faced unusual cold mid-December.
Temperature dropped to twenty two and it snowed last night.
After six hours of two connected flights
Many mountain ridges appeared under fairly clear sky.
From behind a window of flying jet with our watchful eyes
We began seeing southern California with its vast ocean line.
Minutes later, the jet plane landed at San Diego airport on time.
Excitement grew rapidly in our longing hearts
Because, we would arrive at our son’s home after a short while.
My son came to pick us up at the airport
Then he took us to a seafood restaurant on Lajolla beach
Which overlooked a deserted beach under sunny warm azure sky.
Gentle blue ocean waves kept breaking at its shore line.
We left the restaurant after more than an hour of good time.
Then we continued traveling on US highway 15.
On the highway, we traveled at a fairly steady speed.
Then after one half hour of traveling
We turned along winding roads of higher hills.
We parked on the hill top where sat my son’s beautiful home.
Our granddaughter slept well with her angelic beauty
So, it would be better to let her enjoy her peaceful sleep.
We would play with her when she woke up.
