Cherry Blossoms

By Kamala Wijeratne

I have heard
That cherry trees bloom
With extra brilliance
This spring
Along the death visited Wuhan roads
They take away the stench and burn
Of those thousands who died

The Cherry Blossoms too will wither And fall and decay under feet
Moving along the live Wuhan roads

They will return with lesser hue
Next spring
Will those thousands Show life again?
