Self Absorbed

By Brenda Arledge

Drenched like an absorbent paper towel,

existing in his own small world

with little to no concern for others.

Aimlessly drifting on a selfish road

of his own making,

destroying any chance

for a relationship to blossom.

Lost in an illusion,

his eyes failing to see the big picture,

pampering himself

with his thoughts and desires.

Standing alone

on a deserted island,

losing his battle for love

as time silently drifts away.
