The State Of Australia Poem

By Montgomery C

For years we’ve loved our sunburnt country
But now many have come to find the heat unbearable
As our eucalyptus burn
And our great reefs bleach
Our attentions turn
To the climatic impact our day-to-day actions hold
They said that my island home is waiting for me
But with rising sea levels I’m not so sure
As the water turns green
in the famous harbour I so adore
Can we return to the shade of the Coolibah tree?
We will just have to wait and see
