Time

By Hilda Conkling

Time is a harp
That plays to you till you fall asleep;
You are always spending it away
Like a music . . .
Suddenly you are left alone
On a trail of wind.

The mountains were asleep
Long ago!
Listen . . . the tune is changing . . .
Do you hear it?
You will sleep too
Before long . . .
