Monster

By DC Martin

on the ground I’m slumped,
crumpled into a pile of guilt
staring out into the valley of death
and at all the blood that’s been spilled.

I created a monster, a cataclysm of death untold
a planetary tsunami,
a wave of destruction so very cold
Unleashed and off it’s chain,
it put the world to sleep.

my creation, devastation,
and all I can do is kneel and weep.
I had such grander glories planned,
an end to suffering and pain,
but a miscalculation, killed a nation
and there is only me to blame.
