Whispers Shared

By Susan Lawrence

Your time worn hand rests on my shoulder
A gentle firm touch
Ancient fingers stretching awake
And for that moment in time, I receive you
My body marinates in your history,
Delicacies, trauma, and wisdom

I sense you riding within my soul
Opening my heart to depths yet unknown
I journey with you, gazing into the welcoming deep wells
Of your onyx eyes, perceiving your scarred heart,
Moments of passionate elation, struggle, challenge
And renewed strength

Lavender sound waves embrace light beams
Trickling through a sleepy forest
Riding pine boughs, dancing over fallen trees
Alighting on limey velvet moss

I walk silently enmeshed in your presence,
Past eroded stones glistening on water’s edge
The river guides us onward lapping at our feet
Your cane finding purpose as your eyes begin to fail

Upwards towards trails of tears etched into the salty terrain
Your aged palms open to the sky
Each crevice a time capsule of what once was
Your footprints reveal your passage
Your ashes absorbed by the earth
Reveal new tendrils of growth

Shadows of eagles and falcons intertwine
Dancing on red rocks, leading me upward

Kee-eee-ar Kee-eee-ar

Gazing down at me the birds seek my movement
As they mingle with my revelations
Drawn by inspiration I climb through mist
Which clings to my eyelashes
Guiding me towards the top of the plateau

I see you seated there embraced by delicious pink smoke
Gazing out across the promising vastness
I hear silken melodies arriving from distant shores
Briny taste arriving in the air

A valley of vision shadows and light shafts
A shifting of purpose
Musical notes ascend
Sharps and flats, high notes, low bass
A vibration so powerful

Soft wind kisses my cheeks
Whispers float as they arrive by the thousands
Darkening the sky with hope’s desire
The ancient bird tribes with their passengers
Aloft on expanded featheriness

Humanity
The old, the sick, the broken, the ailing
The cherished, the newborn
The lovers, the forgotten ones
The seeds of civilization and confrontation
The ugliness and the bloodshed

They arrive
Silently hovering above the ground
A truce, a peace
A moment of unified breath is shared

A stillness fills the air
All eyes gaze outward acknowledging one another
Humankind’s glances imprint themselves onto each soul
The collective heart expands

Tears are shed
Wounds are healed
Acceptance is given
Tender touches are received
Apologies are offered
Laughs are shared

Light rises from below
A warm beckoning invitation
A congregation of energy
A pulsating beat that encapsulates us
Gazing towards the radiance
We witness fervent flames dancing enticingly
Revealing her silhouette

She who dances in fire
She who illuminates
She who cries and shares each of our breaths
She who rises to bring unity

Unshielded and engaged
We hold nothing back
Looking around it all becomes clear
Ladybugs and hummingbirds join
In circular flight riding the waves of our intention
Compassion prevails

Wings join
Voices blend
Moonlight caresses cheeks in a milky glow
Stardust coats us as
The circle of light is born
