Sleepwalking

By Joe Fraccalvieri

We’re sleepwalking here
We don’t want to see the truth right now
or face the facts that are really there

I’m on roller skates
just sliding across this world of ours
though never asking how

How is it I survive! Even when I fall
Seems funny when I wonder
why I’ve never asked at all

We’re sleep-walking here
We don’t want to take the time
to wake ourselves
even though we are so near

I’m floating on a cloud
my soul is like a shroud
Maybe I’ll just float away
if such a thing’s allowed

Because I’m sleep walking here
Don’t wake me up or shake me
I don’t want to face the fear
